How To Plant Flowers
By Felix on December 17th, 2008Do you like to have colorful blooms in your garden or even in your balcony or terrace? Are you clueless when it comes to growing plants and flowers? You are in luck. This article will give you some tips on how to plant flowers.
- The first important tip on how to plant flowers is to get yourself a flowering plant in a pot. You can buy this from any retail stores that sell plants or flowers or you can also get this from a greenhouse, the place where they grow flowers and plants. The decision is yours to make. However, you have to consider your location. Of course, choose flowering plants that can grow in the kind of climate or weather where you live.
- Loosen up the soil. Make sure it is not too sandy or very clay-like. Make sure it is the right texture and consistency. It should hold just the right amount of water.
- Make a hole on the ground. It should be a bit larger than your pot to make room for the plant. You can place the flower into the hole gently. But before doing this, you should untangle the roots to prevent themselves from getting tangled and killing the plant. For flowering plants, it is best to cut off all the blooms for roots to grow properly.
- Cover the lower part of the flowering plant with the soil that you dug out from the hole. The plant should be planted and erected firmly.
- Give your newly planted flower enough water. It should not be too much because this could drown the roots and kill the flower.
- If you want to have more and bigger blooms, you can add fertilizer or put spray to achieve this purpose.
- Your pets should be forbidden to go in your garden or near your plants, no matter how much you love them this could damage the plants and this can destroy your garden’s appearance.
- Get yourself a soil testing kit to know if your soil is good enough to plant flowers. Some soils have chemicals or high pH level which is not good for the plants. You can buy this soil testing kit from your local garden shop or garden centre.
- Make it a point to put a small amount of compost into the hole where you will plant the flower. Just because your soil looks healthy does not mean you don’t have to take extra measures to make your plant grow properly.
- Determine if the flowers you plan to include in your garden can cause allergies or discomfort to people in your house or pets. Some plants have poison and substances that have bad effects to humans and animals if they come in contact with them. If it is possible, do not choose these kinds of plants. But if it cannot be avoided, plant them in an area far from your children’s reach or keep them away by putting a fence around them.
If you follow these tips on how to plant flowers, you will have a colourful and bright display of blooms in no time. So go ahead and have fun planting!
